Inexpensive and Fun Date Ideas

It can be a little confusing to decide where to take someone on your first date. Everyone likes to play it safe and do the whole dinner and a movie thing. While that’s not necessarily a bad date, it’s a total cliché. It’s also not the best way to get to know someone. When are the two of you supposed to connect? Between bites of your dinner, or during a movie you’re not supposed to talk through. Not to mention you want to have a fun date, not an okay one.

There’s also the whole aspect of not wanting to spend too much money. There is this idea that in order to have a great time, your wallet has to take a beating. That’s not true at all. Besides, you want your date to be able to like you for you, not for how much money you have. Whether you’re going Dutch or paying for your date, you want to be able to have fun without breaking your bank. There’s nothing wrong with really wanting to impress your date, but there’s other ways of doing it besides dishing out all of your cash. There are better dates to go on that will ensure that you make it to date number two, without going broke.

1. Try: Doing Something Athletic

Why: Getting outside and getting your blood pumping can be  tons of fun. A lot of athletic activities will allow you to bond with your date over whatever sport you’re doing. The two of you can team up and push each other to do better, or go against each other with all the competitive fun that goes with it. Either way the two of you are getting to know each other and having a fun time while doing it. Not to mention the killer workout you get.

2. Try: Grabbing Some Coffee/Drinks

Why:  This date might be a little cliché too, but boy is it effective. The casual setting allows for you to feel relaxed as you get to know your date. The two of you can talk and not feel the pressure of trying to impress one another. The more relaxed atmosphere helps you to get a better feel for your date, and them vice versa. Bars and coffee shops stay open pretty late, so feel free to talk until the cows come home.

3. Try: Going to a Museum/Art Show

Why: You can tell a lot about someone by the way they view art. Visiting an art show or a museum is a really creative and interesting date. You and your date can discuss the complexity of the lighting in photographs, or snicker about why all the statues you see are completely nude. Not to mention this date can be seen as very romantic. Letting your date  see your creative and deep side will score you some major points in their book.

4. Try: Head to the Beach/Park

Why: There are a ton of fun things you can do at the beach and the park. You can have a picinic, which shows great planning skills on your part. Maybe you want to be more active and bike ride or rollerblade, which shows how much fun you are. Or you guys can just take in the gorgeous sights, people watch, and enjoy the sunset. Heck do all of the above, and have an action packed day.

5. Try: Visiting Festivals/Carnivals

Why:  There is always so much going on at both carnivals and festivals, that don’t take away from you interacting with your date. This is a fun date that has everything you’ll need to have a great time. Carnivals and festivals are an abundance of interesting people, good music, yummy food, and exciting games and booths to check out.

These are only a few date ideas that are usually local, will let you get to know, and have a great time with your date. Not to mention they are all cheap enough so that you can afford your next date. Impress your date without breaking your wallet. Ditch the old boring cliché dates that everyone has done and try something inexpensive, exciting, and memorable.
