5 Reasons You Should Pause Before Dating Someone Older

In recent years more women  have started dating above the age pool.  This goes for men too. An online survey from SugarDaddyForme.com shows that more than 50 percent of women would be interested in dating a man more than 30 years  older than them. The numbers dwindle as the years increase but surprisingly 7 percent of women would still date a partner over 60 years their senior.  We’ve all seen these type of relationships. It primarily is seen in celebrity couples, from Hugh Hefner and Crystal Harris to Bradley Cooper and Suki Waterhouse. Even the glorious union of Beyonce and Jay-Z have an  age gap of 12 years between them. Most recently Kylie Jenner and rapper Tyga just exclusively  announced their relationship after the young starlet turned 18. Tyga is 25 but the two have been linked romantically since Jenner was 16. I know what you’re thinking, these couples have been together for for a little while and robbing the cradle has seemed to work for them. Perhaps you should test the waters this “cuffing season”. Word to the wise. Proceed with caution.

For starters, there is the issue of what you might or might not have in common. Everyone gets older but when two people are at different stages in their life it makes it easy for you to find reasons why you two don’t click. If you’re 21 and he’s 33, it’s very well might be true that he’s had his fun and is looking for someone to settle down with. This may prove difficult as you just have just reached the legal age to do pretty much whatever you want and  that your wild nights are still ahead of you. Dating an older mate means that you have the chance to experience new and exciting opportunities but the age comes with a certain behaviors. While external factors like friends and family should not play a part in deciding who you choose to be with, you can bet that tongues will wag when you bring home your older partner for a night out with the team. A lady takes the approval of her friends very seriously. Just the same, it can make for an awkward relationship if his friends are not feeling you either. When everyone doesn’t get along it can it that much harder for your partner to see a long term relationship with you. Simply put, bros before…well you know.

BedFellow Woes

For all you wondering, the sexual chemistry does play a factor as your relationships progress.  Dating someone a decade older means that you two are not growing at the same pace, both mentally and physically.  Men generally tend to peak in their sexual prime in their 20s and 30s while women tend to blossom around their 40s. While this can work for all the cougars out there, for a younger female  this can prove to be difficult. At certain point, his stamina will begin to fade quickly and while you’re ready to ruffle the sheets he’ll just be ready to roll over. Unless you slip Viagra into his morning OJ, he just might not be able to keep up with you. No fun for anyone.

Baggage Claim

Ladies, ever been out at the bar when you  a nice older gentleman there as well. You two get to talking and you’re attracted immediately until that one nagging voice in your head gets to talking.  A million questions rattle off simultaneously. What’s wrong with him? Why is he alone? He probably has kids? Baby mama drama? Whatever it is, there has to be some reason why he has not been snatched up yet.  Dating an older mate might come with a curve ball or two and taking on an unwanted responsibility might seem unappealing at the time.
